Start gathering your monster costumes and creepy evening wear -- in April, Mesa's Monsterland has plans to unveil Arizona's first monster-themed nightclub that will overlook two floors of spooky decor and lurking monsters.

"We have some drinks that will glow in the dark; some that look like brains, maybe some vodka-infused gummy eyeballs, and stuff that smokes," writes Monsterland's Kristy Smith. "The full menu is still being developed, but the servers will be in costume, possibly scaring if the moment presents itself."

The haunted house and horror film museum opened on Main Street in Mesa in October 2011, and has offered steady thrills for horror buffs and monster lovers well past Halloween.

Smith says Monsterland's observation deck/club will have an area where guests can dance to the tune of local DJs. While hours will likely stick to the weekends, the club will be available for private parties. She notes the seasonal "haunting" events on the floors below will still be all-ages and family-friendly for anyone who wants to check out the themed sets with lights on or with "monster protection."

"We're not going to be one of those cheap haunted houses that's only open for four weeks and then shuts down for the rest of the year," Monsterland owner Kevin Wynn told Jackalope Ranch when he first opened shop.

The two-story maze of themed rooms has one of best local collections of horror movie props and life-sized characters from A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Monsterland is located at 18 West Main Street in Mesa. Stay tuned to the Monsterland Facebook page for more info.
