Five Gifts for the Holiday Hipster

Yeah, yeah, we know mainstream-ers have like, totally blurred the lines of hipster authenticity, but we know our misunderstood obscure elitist loved ones when we see smell 'em. Shopping for one, however, is always far from easy.

Luckily, we've scouted some local gift ideas that are sure to make any uber hip kid subtly smile -- just make sure not to use that "h-word" (to their face anyway).

1. Brass Deer Ashtray -- $45
A mid-century mod decorative piece to add to your stylish digs and ash your cigs in? Lets just say, you had the hipster at "mid-century mod".
Nab this totally rad find (and a ton more) at indie Cen-Pho furnishing shop, Modern Manor.

2. Vintage Black Wide Brimmed Wool Hat -- $26
There are two rules when it comes to hipster wear: 1) it must be vintage (recycling is awesome, duh) and 2) keep it local, bro.

When it comes to cool vintage outfit finds, Kitten Paws Vintage is local hierarchy, specializing in retro women's wear and accessories.   You can find this wide-brimmed "BoHo" bad boy at kittenpawsvintage.etsy.com.

3. Concert Tix at Crescent Ballroom -- $15 to $53
Crescent Ballroom is a newish super chill hangout spot/music venue in downtown Phoenix. It also might be the best thing that has happened to Downtown hipster elite. Though the abundance of hipster eye-candy-- and the majority of the nightly DJ entertainment-- in the lounge is free, concert tix to one of the upcoming big-named indie bands playing in the ballroom come at a price way too reasonable for a hipster to afford.

Thus, making this gift item solid hipster-gift gold. You can purchase tix for upcoming CB shows online at www.crescentphx.com.

4. The Sunburst Knuckle Duster by Chadwick The Jeweler -- $28
The two-finger silver ring gives off somewhat of a hardcore brass knuckle illusion, only with a hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind, sensitive side.

Local jewelry artist, Chadwick Uptain, makes masterful jewelry pieces, perfect for the quintessential knuckle pose in the event photography photo that's sure to be splashed all over facebook, or, their local DJ fan page. You can purchase The Sunburst at MADE or at Chadwick's online shop, chadwickthejeweler.com.

5. Very Nearly Almost Magazine Issue 16 -- $11.99.
While the name alone gives you (nearly almost) every hint you need to certify its hipster street-cred, the content of this London-based mag gives it to you literally, specializing in feature articles and interviews with the biggest names in street art and graffiti across the globe.

You can purchase the most recent limited supply issue, with cover art by Invader, at indie art supply shop, Wet Paint Artist Supply in Tempe, 806 S. Ash Ave.
