The Five Wildest New Year's Costume Parties in Phoenix
|Jareth might be spending his New Year's Eve at FilmBar|
From beach bums to goths to Guns 'N' Roses fans, a few other costumed events are scheduled to take place on Saturday. Here are your chances to dress sleazy or stylish as you bid farewell to 2011.
5. Necropolis @ Sanctum
The Theme: A gloomy and ghoulish Batcave-style affair will unfold at this Gothic club as DJs unleash dark dance music all evening.
The Look: The flyer says to "Dress to Depress," which translates to black clothing, pleather or PVC if possible, and plenty of white makeup.
The Details: Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $5 after 10 p.m.
4. Jackie Fontaine and Friends Variety Show @ Space 55
The Theme: Campy performance artist and Vegas-esque entertainer Jackie Fontaine (think Tony Clifton mashed up with Sammy Davis, Jr.) will turn the clock back to New Year's Eve 1975. Highlights include a chance to meet a "real live helicopter pilot" and enjoy entertainment from Rocketship 3D, Elizabeth Crawford, and a monkey.
The Look: Pantsuits, ruffled shirts, bellbottoms, and other throwback fashions.
The Details: The show starts at 10 p.m. Admission is $10.
3. Welcome to the Jungle @ Axis/Radius
The Theme: Since this party's inspired by the infamous Axl Rose and the rest of his Guns 'N' Roses posse, prepare yourself for an excess of hair metal clichés and hardcore rock 'n' roll debauchery. Steven Adler, the band's onetime drummer, will be the guest of honor at the event.
The Look: Ripped acid-washed jeans, white tank tops, teased hair, bad metal t-shirts, and bandanas tied around your head.
The Details: Doors open at 8 p.m. Cover is $29 for singles, $49 for adults.
