Years ago when I was looking for my Arizona Home on my computer in Michigan I pulled up agent site after agent site & they all wanted me to sign up or register to continue looking. I didn't want to register, I just wanted to look!

That really put me off, I didn't appreciate the fact they wouldn't just let me look at things. I've never forgotten about that. At ArizonaCorners.com you can look all you want & you never have to sign up.

Well, it is a red-state.  Republicans have ruined Arizona.

We have one of the earliest tax freedom days in the country, it's the shortest distance between the desert and the snow, home of the Arizona Cardinals, great Tijuana style Mexican food, and world class hiking...

Lulz. Nice try, even if these facts were true, it still makes the state barely half decent.

Could also have mentioned that we have some world class rock climbing areas.  Also, the Southwestern corner of the state is known as the best area in the country for birdwatching.

Pizza is a subjective thing, but it's a joke to suggest that Arizona is a pizza hot spot. Whatever.

Sorry, but I prefer natural lakes. I've always found it humorous that developers build communities and shopping centers on man-made lakes and canals, then call them "waterfront" and charge a premium for them. Oh, and there's never a shortage of pretentious people who fall for the gimmick, either. At least they deserve it.

Rats may be disgusting, but at least they don't have a fatal sting.

Summer temperatures in Florida are typically in the 90s. Phoenix temperatures in the winter are generally in the 60s or 70s.

Some of those on the list I wouldn't brag about (and I'm an Az Native): Old Tucson Studios, Sonoran Desert Museum, Kitt Peak, Mount Graham Binocular and Mount Hopkins Observatories, University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Labs, Both ASU and UofA have been in the TOP 5 for the study of Anthropology for years, Casa Grande Ruin, the largest distribution of archaeological sites in the nation, the Painted Desert, REAL native made silver and turquoise jewelry (where you can actually meet the artist rather than buy it from some high priced boutique), Tucson's Valley of the Moon, Tombstone, Bisbee, spring hillsides covered in California Poppies, Kartchner Caverns, The Grill (a Tucson original), Dendrochronology (the study of tree rings) was developed in N. Arizona.... shall I continue?

I love Arizona and was lucky enough to live there for 17 years.  It's a great state.  I love the people, Sheriff Joe, the winter weather, the beauty, the location, the low cost of living, etc., etc., etc.  It's a great place and I would live there again in a New York Minute!!!!!

I might agree with this list, but you had to bring up Stevie Nicks. I hate yodeling!!

Is it just me, or do about half of these items seem like more reasons to not like the state?

I'm from California, went to ASU and fell in love with Arizona.  I came back home to an over populated state, high taxes and bunch of cocky Californians living their lives on credit.  If it wasn't for the fact that I surf about 4 times a week, I would definitely move back to Arizona.  Great breweries, AWESOME PIZZA (Oreganos and Grimaldis) and great people.  Wacky laws, but whatever, they never hurted me while I was out there.  Plus the sports fans are loyal, unlike California fans who are mostly bandwagoners.

People that live in shitty places get real creative coming up with reasons why its great, instead of simply leaving.  I'm glad the idiots stayed.  Puts less of a strain on the real world outside of arizona.

I was born and raised in Arizona- and it sucked.  The heat, absence of culture, landlocked- I l left when became a legal adult, and most (if not all) of the friends and family I have that are still there wish they would have left before getting sucked into laying roots etc.  Horrible place.  Armpit of America.  You can have it.

It's the worst state. The heat is oppressive, the locals are the least attractive folks I've ever seen (and I've lived & visited many countries and US states) I don't know why it is that way, but it is..maybe it's too hot to fix up oneself before going out? OK aside from the extreme heat and ugly citizens, the city isn't all that great either! Everything's CLOSED after 9pm, unless you want Walmart or the 24 hr AutoZone. There aren't any decent shopping centers, there's ONE: Fashion Centre Mall, that's it. Restaurants...zzzzZZzzz and yes, everything closes early too. I don't like it here. Moving as soon as I can get enough $$

#19 Ha! Still a pipe dream. The most recent numbers I could find were from 2004 when, according to the U.S. Coast Guard, Arizonans owned 147,294 boats. That ranked us 43rd on a per capita basis.Minnesota ranked first on a per capita basis with 853,448, and Hawaii was last with 13,205. http://www.azcentral.com/arizo...

Born and raised in CT, lived in AZ for 4 years and I love it just as much as New England. Only downside is the lack of seasons and the general lack of in-depth conversation (which I'd prefer opposed to the pretentious, rich art-dorks and their political conversations in NYC or Boston).

Wow! Yeah, these reasons are really going to skyrocket us to the top of the best list. Who gives a crap about a failing education system and rampant border and drug violence...we've got pretty sunsets!

This is the most ridiculous list I have ever seen. It seems that it was more of a mocking than pride if you ask me. Oh, and as far as the best pizza in the country and its better than NY pizza, hell to the no but then again AZ has a franchizes named "Streets of NY" and "NYPD Pizza". Get your facts straight!

Exxxxxcusuuuuuse me, but the answer to why AZ is better than New YAWK is obvious... AZ is not NY. Nuf said!
