The folks behind Perihelion Arts
gallery in downtown Phoenix are on summer vacation
, but their doors will open tonight for a pop-up art exhibition
featuring the latest work from The Rise Project,
a Downtown community arts and music youth program.
"A big motivation for us was to just have our own location where we can sell our stuff and have a place where people can come hang out," Perez says. "We're also adding to the downtown art scene ... It's a combination of a lot of little ideas coming together."
For now, visitors who check out the store can take a gander at Perez's unique art on display or purchase Gonzales' clothing designs. Perez says 30 percent of the show's proceeds will go toward funding new classes for The Rise Project.

"Hopefully more people in the Phoenix area will start opening pop-up shops," Perez says. "We want everyone to add their style and their flavor around here and to start supporting one another."
Perez says he hopes the pop-up will be opened until September. The store will initially offer 11th Monk3y apparel while displaying Perez' artwork, but he says he hopes that they can add more contributors as the summer progresses.
The Rise Project pop-up shop is at 610 East Roosevelt Road, Suite No. 137.
