Dry pastel painting at SACMA Starting on July 13, Shemer Art Center and Museum Association begins its pastel painting workshop with Donna Stenger that will focus on landscape and still life. Don't be intimidated to jump into the once a week (for six weeks) workshop, Stenger will work with students at any level.
Shemer's website notes that supplies are around $60, and non-members are required to drop a $150 tuition fee

Phoenix Art Museum is bringing in professional Chris McCaw
to teach two workshops on creating photographs using iron and platinum. Platinum is in demand because of its aesthetic range with tonal variations, and is quite expensive to do on your own. McCaw will work with you to create, from your personal negatives, your own photograph to take home.
The two different sessions, on July 23 and 24 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Starting back on July 25, Art for Fun! will continue their Summer Art Camp for kids from 2 to 4 p.m. throughout the week.
Art projects include ceramics, silk painting, watercolor, clay, etc, for kids (ages 6 through 16). Juice and a snack are provided for $40 per class.

This class is structured for beginners, but access to a digital SLR camera is necessary (in addition to the $130 sign-up fee).

On July 18
, session 8 of the five-day summer camp for kids (age 6 to 8) takes off at Scottsdale Artists' School. Take a look at the program's registration page

On July 19 from 9 to 11 a.m., Practical Art will be showing kids the art of stitching (wallets, hackey sacks, bookmarks, etc.). Aside from their other summer classes aimed at kids, if you want to learn more, they have intermediate classes for additional quick stitch learning.
