Holy Piñata
Artists: Danny Stoeller and Andy Brooks
Medium: Graphic Design

I CACTUS PHX is the marquee design of Holy Piñata, a Phoenix-based T-shirt company launched in 2008 by longtime friends Andy Brooks and Danny Stoeller. Besides being an homage to the ubiquitous I HEART NY rebus (which was borrowed from the Virginia is for Lovers motif), the I CACTUS PHX design is firmly rooted in Holy Piñata's charitable component (the company donates 10 percent of its proceeds to local charities).

So in other words, the message is this: I donated to a Phoenix charity and I love Phoenix and I got this shirt to prove it. As far as Holy Piñata is concerned, saguaros are so insanely unique they ought to be a required point of pride.

The countdown to Best of Phoenix continues! Last year, we profiled 100 Creatives who made a mark on the local arts scene. This year, we'll have 100 creative representations of Phoenix.  No scope or requirement on medium or size -- we'll include photography, painting, sculpture, video, installation, literary, and more. What do you see when you Imagine PHX?
