Noche de Lotería @ Madison Events Center:
Ping Pong Tournament @ Pravus:
Painting pimp Michael Little is more than capable with a brush, but how good is he with a paddle? We'll find out later tonight, as Pravus is holding a ping-pong competition coinciding with their current group show. Artists Collin Chillag, JJ Horner and a dozen others will engage in paddle battles starting at 7:30 p.m., although there are still some slots open for anyone wishing to participate. It's part of the penultimate Third Friday party for Pravus (as the gallery is shutting its doors in June) and co-owner Ken Richardson expects it to be a fun evening. Prizes and "funny awards" will be given and barbecue food will be cooked up out back.

Aztec Smurf Gallery Show @ Red Owl:
Freaky doll heads and even freakier looking supernatural creatures populate most of the paintings produced by Tempe's Aztec Smurf. The 20something artist is equally adept at rendering stunning portraits of the female form, such as his series of Chicano women wearing Day of the Dead face paint. Tomorrow's gig by SoCal rappers 2Mex and DieYoung at Tempe's Red Owl will also function as a massive exhibition of Aztec's works, with paintings adorning the premises for hip-hop fans to peruse. Doors open at 8 p.m. and admission is $10.
Civic Space Jam 17 @ Downtown Civic Space Park:
Djentrification's monthly jam session is renowned as one of the Valley's best places to hear DJs work their magic on the mixers, but there's gonna be more than just killer tunes at the Sunday evening event starting at 5 p.m. Local painters fill their canvases with color, yoga teachers instruct attendees at how to do the downward dog, free snow cones are served, chalk is distributed for sidewalk sketch sessions, and art exhibitions are erected.
| Beach Bunny Swimwear |
Summer Has Arrived Kickoff Party @ Sushi Roku:
Sumptuous sashimi, artful décor, and tanned-and-toned Scottsdale types and aren't going to be the only pretty things to look at inside this sushi hotspot this weekend, as its hosting a primo party and fashion event on Sunday night. The models of Beach Bunny Swimwear will strut their stuff, DJ Nameless will drop mad hits, and a $500 swimsuit package will be awarded to a lucky attendee. Sushi Roku will also debut such summer specials as Sake Snow Cones and Suzuki Kōri during the event, which begins at 6 p.m.
