Top 5 Things to Do This Weekend
By all accounts, Phoenix Radiation Experiment 1.0 was a hit. Hundreds of people swung by OP-tic this past First Friday to check out the emotive work of painter Yuko Yabuki, donate cash towards disaster relief efforts in Japan, and witness the mechanical music madness/noise artistry of Elektrobahn, Yves AMU Klein, and David Therrien. OP-tic will stage the event for a second time at 8 p.m.. A $10 donation is suggested.

Tequilazona @ Tempe Marketplace
Don't expect to see any bottles of Jose Cuervo or Sauza being cracked open at this tony tequila-tasting event on Saturday, cabron. Instead, the focus will be on tasty tequilas made by micro-distilleries both local and from around the nation sort, ranging from the Valley's 3 Amigos and Cruz brands to Mar Azul from Texas and rocker Roger Clyne's Mexican Moonshine. If you need some food and tunes to accompany your shots of "the Devil's Drink" during the alcohol-fueled affair, which runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., restaurants including San Felipe's Cantina and Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ will offer tequila-paired appetizers while the Latin musicians of Soran will perform. Admission is $60 to $100.
Big Brother 13 Casting Call @ The Firehouse
Summer Groove Pool Party @ W Scottsdale Hotel
There are a few signs that the dastardly bitch known as summertime is about to make her impending return to torment the Valley yet again: The mercury starts bubbling up to the high 90s, clothiers begin busting out with swimwear and board shorts, and the annual onslaught of pool parties begins in earnest. The folks at the W Scottsdale are getting a jump the pool party season with this weekly wingding on the hotel's Wet Deck, which takes place every Sunday starting at noon and is hosted by the hotties of the Scottsdale 16. Summertime cocktails will be served and both DJ Soulman and local bands provide live entertainment. Admission is free for hotel guests, $25 for everyone else.
