Thrifty Tags for Holiday Gifts

From time to time, the Thrifty Maker will find, bargain, borrow, steal (not really) to create something a little different. She'll rely on her own skills as a scout of treasures and will sometimes bring in a few experts to help.
These gift tags aren't about recycling, they're about showing your friends how hip and anthropologie-like you can be. Plus you'll be handcrafting your gifts this year anyway, right?
If you're planning on making your own wrapping paper (see the Thrifty Makers Post for gift wrap ideas next week), why not make some gift tags for your pals' presents while you're at it?
2. Draw a simple tag design onto a torn out page - create several of them at once in all different sizes!
3. Cut the tag out
4. Hole punch a hole at the top with a standard hole punch
5. Use craft paint and a brush to cover just a swath of the tag - don't cover the whole thing or you miss the point of using the used book. Let some words show!
6. Grab your ball of yarn. Cut your piece of yarn to about 6-inches long. NOTE: It is a great idea to pick up yarn at thrift stores if you are not going to knit with it, thrift stores are filled with balls of yarn and string that are perfect for projects like this.
7. Thread the yarn through the hole on the tag and then tie it at the top. Don't tie the knot too close to the paper -- you'll risk tearing those words!
8. Now bust out some alphabet letter rubber stamps. This works best if the fonts are mismatched. Stamp out "To:" and "From:" on the tag.
