Tempe Center for the Arts will become a dance club for one night this weekend.
What will be the hottest dance club in Tempe this Saturday night? If you guessed someplace on Mill Avenue, like Crave or Rula Bula, you wouldn't be too far off.

But how about Tempe Center for the Arts? Yes, that beautiful building off Rio Salado Parkway where they usually host things like fine art and chamber music will be turned into a big club with lots of booze, bumping beats, and beautiful people for a fundraiser called "Dance the Night Away" (a.k.a. DNA @ TCA). Planned by honorary event chair (and former Mayor of Tempe) Neil Giuliano, the evening will feature some of the most talented (and good looking) DJs in Phoenix, like the exotic DJ Brazilia and the suave DJ Madd Rich, along with live R&B music.

The event starts at 7 p.m., with an outdoor party featuring live music from Brazilian percussion group PZ Vibe. At 8 p.m., the party moves inside Tempe Center for the Arts, as DJs Brazilia and Madd Rich work the turntables.

DJ Brazilia has been spinning an eclectic mix of house, funk, and jungle beats around the Valley for years. She formerly held down regular gigs at places like Barcelona and the defunct Paper Heart, and now does occasional spins at clubs in New York and Los Angeles.

DJ Madd Rich hosts the weekly hip-hop show "Rhyme and Reason Radio" every Saturday from midnight 'til 2 a.m. on local station The Beat 92.7 FM, and will add his blend of underground grooves to the DNA @ TCA party. Both DJs will have "live performance art" taking place while they spin.

Folks looking for live music from a band can catch local R&B sensation Chuck Hall in the main theater from 8 to 10 p.m.

Since a dancing body needs fuel to burn, DNA @ TCA attendees can also enjoy cocktails, rock shrimp tacos, pork sliders, and cookies. And since the event is an annual fundraiser for arts programming at Tempe Center for the Arts, partygoers can feel extra good about their booty-shaking debauchery. They can also catch a free shuttle (with ticket or wristband) for transport to Mill Avenue from 5 to 9 p.m.

"Dance the Night Away" takes place at 7 p.m. Saturday, November 6, at Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway. Pre-Party Admission costs $15, and provides access to the outdoor pre-party and a discounted cash bar. Regular Admission costs $75 and includes the pre-party, the DNA party, the after-party, meet-and-greet with the DJs, access to three VIP lounges, three beverage tickets, and hors d'oeuvres. VIP tickets cost $150 and include all of the above, plus a VIP bar, five beverage tickets, and a gourmet buffet. For tickets or more information, call 480-350-2822 or visit www.tempe.gov/TCA.
