A work by Rose Johnson.
Last year, the Arizona arts community was shocked by the tragic news of Rose Johnson's death (click here for the New Times feature story). Johnson, who was a pioneer in the Phoenix Arts scene of the 1980s and 1990s died in Bali after she drank a contaminated batch of arak, a distilled Balinese rice and palm sap brew.

She was 48.

Jane Hamilton Fine Art of Tucson, AZ, plans to host a retrospective show in honor of Johnson and they're on the hunt for Johnson's works.

This is not the first celebration of Johnson's life. Last year, the Icehouse hosted a memorial that featured Johnson's art and a procession of mermaids (click here for that story).

The upcoming exhibit titled "The Last Rose of Summer" will be held at La Paloma Resort in Tucson October 2, from 12 to 8 p.m. with a reception that begins at 5 p.m.

If you happen to own a Rose Johnson piece and would like to loan it out for the show, contact Jane Hamilton Fine Art.
