antigirl: Heart No. 23

It's about time Phoenix sees some serious mural love. In the interest of giving credit to their artists and because we're losing track of the times we've said, "Woah, when did that go up?", we bring you Mural City, a series on the murals springing up around town -- their artists, their hosts and their inspirations.

Mural coverage continues in this week's cover story, Tag, You're Art.

The mural scene in Phoenix has exploded; it's hard to find a wall in the Roosevelt neighborhood that doesn't have some kind of mural. Most of them literally appear overnight and some are only up for a few weeks before they're "buffed out." More often than not, these murals are subject to tagging and the additions of street artists, who also paint on walls, which begs the ultimate question: Is it cool to make art on top of someone else's art and call that art?

Read the full story and check out a Phoenix mural slideshow, plus more antigirl photos after the jump ...
