Tilt Gallery's "Photography Re-Imagined" Submission Deadline Approaches
|Time for a history lesson . . .|
Tilt Gallery is hosting the "Photography Re-Imagined: 4th Annual Juried Alternative & Historical Process Show" in October and they need your work.
Assuming your work is made using alternative or historical photographic processes, that is.
And you should know that juror Anna Strickland will be calling the shots this year. Strickland is a Senior Critic in the Photography Department at Rhode Island School of Design. She's taught the Antique and Alternative Processes class there for over 20 years.
Interested? Here are the basics:
-- Entry fee is $30 for 3 images. Additional images cost $5 each.
-- Submissions must be in the form of jpeg digital images on a CD. CDs will not be returned.
-- Work should have been created in the last three years.
-- Deadline is August 5, notifications of acceptance will be sent September 12, framed work needs to arrive at the gallery by September 24.
-- First place award of $250 and the artist will be included in a Tilt Gallery retrospective. Second place receives $150, third place receives $100.
-- The following processes are acceptable: bromoil, albumen, collotype, kallitype, lazertran, anthotype, ziatype, carbon, argyrotype, cyanotype, daguerreotype, gum bichromate, salted paper, photogravure, solarplate, tintype, platinum and palladium, van dyke, hand applied emulsions, and wet-plate collodion.
We're assuming that if you recognize half of those processes listed, you're probably eligible.
Like we said, all that info is just the basics. There are more instructions and an entry form available at www.tiltgallery.com.
"Photography Re-Imagined: 4th Annual Juried Alternative & Historical Process Show" will run from October 1, 2010 to October 29, 2010.
