Tiffe Fermaint, What Are You Wearing?
|That's one helluva headshot.|
Yes, she can play the name-dropping game like a pro: Luke Wilson, Giovanni Ribisi, Kelsey Grammer, James Caan, and Denzel Washington are just a few of the stars she's worked with. Not that she would ever name-drop -- no, this Phoenix girl keeps a down-to-earth attitude and, of course, a fierce wardrobe.
What are you wearing right now?
I'm wearing a purple and turquoise geometric dress from H&M (inspired by Jonathan Saunders), black leggings, vintage, black, leather cowboy boots and a long silver tooth necklace that is covered in rhinestones.
What is the last item of clothing you bought?
80%20 made gladiator inspired leather Cody boots that works well in the summer. They are perfect since I refuse to retire boots in any season and these just happened to be sold out everywhere I looked. Snatched 'em up!
What is the item of clothing you most covet at the moment?
Currently: Silhouette (I've just been on the hunt for amazing and unique over-sized shirts. I love the proportion given when paired with skinny jeans and boots or heels); Colors: teal or cobalt blue; Fall collections by William Rast, Rodarte, Halston, or Erin Wasson;
Long term: I've never owned a Mcqueen dress or shoe but it's on my list of "100 things to do before I die."
Give us a childhood memory of you and clothes:
I'm one of five kids in my family so, needless to say, I was always given hand-me-downs. I had to be creative with what was given to me which really fueled my interest in creating my own clothing. I never wanted to feel limited. By the time I was 15 years old, I launched my clothing line and it's been going 10 years strong.
Name five items every woman should have in her closet:
1. A knee-length, light-weight trench coat (pair with a short dress and heels or skinny jeans and boots)
2. A pair of really unique tights (lace, brightly colored, or printed)
3. The perfect vintage black dress (can be professional or scandalous in the same night)
4. A really, really sexy piece of lingerie (comes in handy and is an awesome self-esteem booster)
5. A pair of jeans that are currently a few sizes too small (I call this a motivation piece. *Warning: Only Thinner-Future-You is allowed wear these)
Name an item of clothing that's best when it's vintage:
Designer cocktail dresses. They're very well made and you can usually find them at killer prices if you do you're own thrifting or spend some time on ebay. Plus, you never have to worry about someone owning the same dress. That just makes me want to break things. Especially if someone owns the same dress AND wears it before you. Oh, don't get me started.
Name an item of clothing you should NEVER buy used:
Chones ... underwear ... I think the rest of the world would have to agree.
What is your one piece of fashion advice for Phoenix?
Dress up for Christ's sake! Single or not, there are so many reasons you should make an effort when you take on the world. One of the best things about my trendsetting fiancé is that he loves to dress up with me when we go out. I'm talking fashionable, but borderline-costume attire. It's fun and makes the time we spend together special. Sometimes we make up new names and pretend we're other people, depending on what we're wearing. Multiple personalities due to our party attire? Yes, but at least we have a good time.
Something about Phoenix that makes me want to stab myself: Walking into "fashion events" to find attendees wearing Ed Hardy, Affliction, flip flops, furry boots or boots with long hair (wtf?), head-to-toe Forever 21, dresses with petticoats, tutu, or crinoline skirts. Can we progress? Don't you think it's time?
