Now that some time has passed since Arizona governor Jan Brewer signed Senate Bill 1070 into law, local creative types opposed to the bill are really starting to exercise their creative muscles.

During the months of August and September, Calaca Cultural Center will present "FootPrints - SB1070," a comprehensive exhibition that documents the struggles with and reactions to the immigration law.

Rather than a let's-get-this-out-there-asap response to the controversial law, "Footprints" will showcase a thought-out multimedia presentation that's been months in the making. The show will include original posters that were constructed and displayed during the May 29 anti-SB 1070 demonstrations as well as video footage, found-sound audio, visual art, and other related items.

The exhibit -- part of the Calaca Community Gallery Series and Traveling Exhibition Series -- is scheduled to open with a First Friday reception from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, August 6, at Bragg's Pie Factory, 1301 Grand Avenue. For more information, call 480-557-7195 or check out www.calaca.org.
