Megan at ScarlettaBakes.com had her hands full last week whipping up multiple mouthwatering recipes, but our favorite might be her black bean brownies, which she insists is how we do brownies here in Arizona (or should do them, anyway). We know, it sounds scary, because why in the world would you want to ruin a beautiful thing like a brownie by throwing beans into it? We just can't help but be tempted by her fresh spin on an old recipe, and if the actual thing tastes as good as it looks there's probably nothing to be scared of. If beans and brownies aren't your thing, she also made some divine looking chipotle sweet potato biscuits.

Linda Hopkins at Les Petites Gourmettes spoiled us with not only a history lesson this week, but also a tasty recipe to go with it. We learned all about the history of the Bundt pan (did you know November 15th is National Bundt Pan Day? You're welcome.) and then learned how to put them to use with a fresh and simple blueberry yogurt cake recipe. If only real school had been this fun and delicious.

Valentine's Day is still a few weeks away, but that doesn't mean it's too early to start breaking out all those chocolaty, insanely decadent desserts that we hate to love. This week Handle the Heat did just that by baking up a chocoholic's dream: chocolate-stuffed red velvet cupcakes. What's not to love? The recipe is easy even for the amateur pastry chef, and in Handle the Heat's opinion, this batch is better than your regular, run of the mill red velvet.

'Tis the season for giving and sharing and we found two blog posts highlighting giving and sharing.

Rodney Hartwig of Adventures in Cuisine blogged about being one of the contestants for an on-air spicy burger challenge earlier this week. Bueno Burger's "Turn The Heat Up on Childhood Cancer Event" that benefited The Ronan Foundation (4 year old Ronan Thompson passed away this year in May from Neuroblastoma).

Spicing up your life by eating a hotsy totsy burger and spreading the love to kids and families who have it pretty rough - sounds good to us. Hartwig downed The Sneaky Diablo Burger which "is two juicy, mesquite-grilled ground beef patties topped with habanero peppers, ghost chili peppers, onion, pickled jalapenos, black-pepper bacon and smothered with American cheese. The beef is seasoned with a secret spice blend."

Read on to find out how the flamin' hot on-air tasting portion went down...

A round-up of tasty morsels from Valley food blogs.

We're so excited when we stumble upon a really great local food blog. We need more of them, people. And if you have one you've been keeping secret, please let us know. This one we found is smart, funny, healthy, delicious and interesting - and the blog's author is still in high school. Overachiever. Rachel describes her diet as a "flexo-vegan extraordinaire." We thought her post about Hippopotamus Fritters sounded outrageous and something we'll have to try on a night we're feeling particularly exotic.
