Taco Haus in Scottsdale
After just over six months, Taco Haus in Scottsdale has closed its doors -- or rather, the restaurant's doors have been padlocked by the landlord, according to two sources. The highly-anticipated modern Mexican spot from owner Dave Andrea and chef Payton Curry opened in late January at 7318 E. Shea Boulevard.

"We decided to close the doors," Curry tells Chow Bella. "We just weren't busy enough to satisfy our investors."

Andrea also owns Brat Haus in Scottsdale, which opened in July 2012 and remains open. Curry is also the chef at that restaurant and says they'll be focusing their energy on that spot and gearing up for "the busy Oktoberfest season."

The news of Taco Haus' closure may not come as quite a surprise to those who've been following the restaurant since its debut. During the last six months, the restaurant and its chef have been the center of two negative social media incidents and has been met with lukewarm reviews by food critics.

In February, a photo of a customer's receipt was posted on the Taco Haus Facebook page. The customer had not tipped on the final bill (and left some choice comments instead). In response, the restaurant posted a photo of the receipt that included the customer's first and last name and some credit card information.

Then in April, Taco Haus chef Payton Curry posted a photo of anonymous food critic Gwen Ashley Walters on Twitter. Walters, a longtime local food writer, had penned a critical review of the restaurant for Phoenix Magazine.

So so sad!! I have no idea what happened?!? Love Chef Payton to pieces! He introduced so many new fresh ideas. Every time I went in it seemed busy with happy people. Taco Haus will most certainly be missed by me and my family. So disappointed to loose a local restaurant filled with so much talent and passion.

Haus for rent. Credit scores of applicants may be posted on Twitter by previous tenant.

Couldn't have happened to a more worthy asshole than Curry.

If I see Haus, it better be a killer German place. And no, serving brats and beer doesn't make it ok. ;)

Perhaps opening *not* in Scottsdale would have been smart. A billion places all trying to be swanky and relevant in over priced rent locations. If that was in Tempe or chandler it may have lived longer.

With that notoriety, who would want to eat there? If a customer wasn't happy with the service, they shouldn't expect a tip.

With that notoriety, who would want to eat there? If a customer wasn't happy with the service, they shouldn't expect a tip. Nowadays, the court of social network brings the judgment.  I was planning on eating there one time but many of my Facebook friends told me the food wasn't great and the prices were unreasonable high. Not surprised they didn't thrive. Not enough=customers and can't pay their bills, so the landlord padlocked the damn joint.

We are so over saturated with street taco joints and none if them street taco joints. We need to find our own niche

It wasn't one of our better family dining experiences. Not surprised it didn't make it.

They were doing some great culinary ideas/inventions. In house pickling/curing. Everything fresh, unique. You could do a lot worse; and places do. Before everybody attacks a local restaurant that tried to bring you good food, remember that when you complain that Phoenix has the nations highest percentage of chain restaurants.

I thought that was an extension of braut haus in Scottsdale? They had sins there and everything. So weird that they would be an Amy's backing company kind of thing.

The food wasn't good though, why reward incompetence whether it's local or national?
