Living up to the reputation of its big sister restaurant, Citizen Public House, is no easy task and The Gladly has seemed to have gone through some changes in the first year its been open.

However, one thing in which The Gladly has alway excelled is the appetizer course. From perfectly roasted brussels sprouts with grits to smooth, smoky cheese fondue, it's difficult not to fill up before the main courses at this Biltmore-area restaurant, especially during happy hour when some of the apps drop down to the $5 range.

While there are plenty of great places to start a meal at The Gladly, the pistachio chicken liver pate is probably the best. The velvety, spiced blend of chicken livers really is delicious spread on bread on its own. Once you begin to incorporate the tart pickled onions, savory capers, and whole grain mustard, the dish becomes something new and exciting with every bite.
