Phoenix is leading the way in donut love-- congrats!
Prepare to waste the next hour or so of your day on Yelp. No, we're not talking about revisiting some of your favorite Amy's Baking Co. reviews (though that's always fun). Yelp just released a city-specific trend analytics site that can tell you what's hip in Phoenix. And from the looks of it, we're all pretty cool. Craft beer beats out PBR in popularity. More surprisingly, doughnuts are more popular than cupcakes in Phoenix, a trend that has yet to take hold in other major cities. Here are some of our favorite graphs so far:

Doughnuts!!! The way I see it, anyone can make cupcakes. But not just anyone is going to fry up doughnuts at home. Plus they bring back childhood memories of special Sunday morning treats! Rainbow Donuts is where it's at!

It depends, do I have $4 to blow on a treat or $2? Also which shop is on the way to where I am going?

You claim that the doughnut is the new cupcake is baseless simply because the cupcake was never more popular nor accessible than the doughnut. Perhaps, you meant as a kitschy trend. But at no point was the cupcake even remotely close to being the go-to pastry.
