If you feel like we do about soup, the above photograph might have you singing "bow chicka wow wow" in your head. Don't worry, it's only natural to get excited over a bowl of soup that is that smothered in cheese and French refinement, and luckily, you can find that soup at Bonjour Vietnam in downtown Phoenix.

Most of the menu playfully balances between French technique and Vietnamese flavors, but this dish is about as French as it gets. And let us tell you, in a city where French food gets harder and harder to find, it's a breath of fresh air.

Before you can get down to the beefy, buttery, and onion-rich broth, you have to dig through about an inch of Gruyere. The fun doesn't stop there, though. The dish comes with a traditional hunk of crusty baguette inside and a less traditional, but highly enjoyable, fried quail egg on top. For a pop of lightness, there are some scallions on top, but if you want light, you probably should order something else.

Miss a dish?

Kind of over a place that treats everyone like shit and puts shrimp paste in some of their vegetarian dishes.
