Here Are the Winners of the 2014 Foodist Awards

Thursday night, the Arizona Restaurant Association announced the winners of the second annual Foodist Awards during an event at the Montelucia Resort in Scottsdale. The awards celebrate "the most amazing tastes, faces and places in Arizona food and beverage."

Finalists were announced in early April with 30 chefs, restaurants, and mixologists nominated in 10 categories. Those categories included Food Pioneer, Top Chef, and Master Mixologist.

I don't know how exactly.. chefs are nominated or judged for this. But I've got to assume that it's as much "who you know" and how good you are at marketing yourself to those people as it is your food. And... it must be a requirement that you're either central/downtown or in Scottsdale/North. I've been on a mission to sample as much good food as I can since moving here two years ago. The chef I think has the most consistent good food I've found yet is never even mentioned anywhere (Adam from Divine Wine on Ocotillo in Chandler), and some of the chefs I think are at best mediocre are often awarded or mentioned. Won't name those, they get a lot of press already.
