Saturday, March 29
Local service organization, The 3000 Club, saves approximately 30 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables each year. By rescuing produce that would otherwise go to landfills and distributing it to the public, food banks and other service agencies the group hands out more than $45,000,000 worth of produce annually. The organization hosts regular Market on the Move events throughout Phoenix and Tucson and will be at Arizona State University's West Campus this Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. -- or whenever the produce runs out. With a $10 donation you can get up to 60 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. The event will be held in parking lots 10 and 11, on the north side of campus, at 4701 W. Thunderbird Road.
