Lauren Saria Apple pie moonshine at Bootleggers.
Moonshine has come a long way since its illicit beginnings in the Appalachians. Once produced and distributed almost always illegally, the high-proof distilled spirit is now en vogue. Don't believe us? Then you probably haven't tried the homemade apple pie moonshine at Bootleggers. The good news for the uninitiated is that the restaurant will host a five course moonshine-paired dinner tonight. The menu -- created by executive chefs Matt Carter and James Fox -- features shaved Brussels sprouts salad, fried chicken thigh, and soy glazed St. Louis ribs. The dinner, which will be at the Scottsdale location, costs $50 a person. Call 480-404-9984 for a reservation.
