Girl Scout Cookies Are Here in Phoenix: No Pre-Sales, But There Is a Cookie Locator App
If you're like us, then you eagerly look forward to the time of year when young girls hawk boxes of Girl Scout cookies. The scouts get to learn about money management and business ethics, and we get to eat loads of Samoas. What's not to love?

And this year, the Girl Scouts of America are making the cookie-purchasing process easier than ever by eliminating cookie pre-orders in favor of instant cookie gratification. So no, you didn't miss the cookie sign-up sheet as it made its way around the office, but here's how you can get your hands on some of those well-loved cookies.
As of Monday, January 27 Girl Scout troops have cookies in their possession for you to buy. Instead of taking pre-orders this year, troops are be able to make direct sales either by setting up a booth or going door-to-door. They will also be setting up sales booths around town.
Girl Scouts will still be able to use order forms if they choose (so don't be confused if you see those floating around, too), though they will mostly be used to record sales, says Susan de Queljoe, senior associate of marketing and communications for the Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council.
"Because we've used pre-order forms for so long, some girls and parents can't let them go," de Queljoe says.
This also is the first year the Girl Scouts will hold a Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge. From February 1 through 28, local restaurants including Cafe Bink, Salty Sow, Beckett's Table, and Olive and Ivy will serve dessert menu items inspired by one of the six brands of Girl Scout cookies. Diners can cast votes for the best dessert online and a winner will be named Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge Champion on March 11. You can find the complete list of participating restaurants here.
This year troops in the Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, which covers approximately 66 percent of the state, are selling six varieties of cookies:
- Savannah Smiles
- Thin Mints
