After just over a year, Searsucker Scottsdale, the nightclub meets restaurant at Camelback Road and Goldwater Boulevard, has shuttered.

Co-owned by chef Brian Malarkey, a finalist on Bravo's Top Chef Miami in 2009, Searsucker Scottsdale, which opened in October 2012, was the second location of the San Diego-based gastropub (there are also branches in Austin, Texas, and Del Mar, California). Malarkey's "New American Classic" menu featured a mix of eclectic dishes intended to be fun, with scant, tongue-in-cheek descriptions.

Steven "Chops" Smith (Kelly's at SouthBridge, Different Pointe of View, Noca), Searsucker's Executive Chef, left the restaurant last September, after less than a year.

The Republic reports that James Brennan, CEO of Enlightened Hospitality Group, the San Diego-based business under which Searsucker is a property of, had this to say about the closing:

"In an effort to remain focused on the national rollout of Enlightened Hospitality Group's (EHGRP) 'fabric of social dining' restaurant concepts we have decided to close our Searsucker Scottsdale and Gabardine San Diego locations. As EHGRP continues the expansion of our premier brands, we must continue to focus our efforts on the immense success of our current restaurant portfolio. EHGRP remains incredibly thankful for the support of the San Diego and Scottsdale communities and are looking forward to the launch of Herringbone Los Angeles this month."

No surprise to me. Went there for lunch and the menu was meatballs, salad and dessert. Got one meatball which was 1 bite size. THe salad wasn't bad. Dessert was a small piece of cake about 1 x 2 inches. Left there still hungry. Some people at our table didn't even get 1 meatball. :(

It was a wrong location. Starting with the wrong state.

Food was good. Decor & ambiance was impeccable. Location was horrible.

never even HEARD of the place. And it sounds gimmicky. Searsucker Scottsdale? Gabardine San Diego? Herringbone Los Angeles?

That's the problem with Searsucker: its season is notoriously short.

Of course, I could have gone the other way with it and commented that the place was just full of Malarkey

And leaving everyone who got a Searsucker gift card for Christmas shit out of luck!

Really nice how they did it too. No notice to their employees at all. They showed up to work to a note on the door. Real classy.

They walked inside The Henry and decided to fold up shop....and I don't blame them. People may not like Sam Fox but when he tagged The Henry as "The greatest neighborhood restaurant" he wasn't far off.

Sad, they had decent food. Location was really, really bad and the lunch options were very limited. I know, I work in the building.

I can't imagine the corp would not give you your money back. Write to them. The owners are very generous people and do a lot of charity work. Good luck.

Who told you that?

Actually the food was very good, expensive but good. Lunch was a better deal.
