Food City Tamale Festival
Saturday, December 14

On the hunt for homemade tamales? Yeah, we don't blame you for not wanting to make them on your own. It's a pretty time consuming project. But this weekend some of the best tamale-makers in the state will be showing off their tamales at the Food City Tamale Festival. The two-day event will begin this Saturday at 10 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. Between 1st and 5th Avenues on Washington Street in downtown Phoenix, members of various faith-based groups will sell thousands of tamales, made in commercial kitchens. Tamales will be sold both in both single orders and by the dozen.

Apron Pop-Up at Crepe Bar
Saturday, December 14

Still looking for the perfect holiday gift for your culinarily-minded friends? Well we've got one more idea -- in addition to the 50 we've already shared -- to add to the list. This Saturday Angela Muniz, a.k.a. Girl from Arizona, will have a pop-up shop to sell her custom aprons for chefs, baristas and messy kids. The aprons can be customized with add-ons including pockets, cellphone pockets, towel loops, and colors. Aprons for adults cost $45, but add-ons -- like a towel loop or extra pocket -- cost $4 each. The children aprons start at $25. The pop-up shop will be from from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crepe Bar in Tempe.
