We set out on Saturday to see just what this year's event had to offer. And as you might expect, there were a hell of a lot of tacos. More than 30 teams competed in the following categories for more than $10,000 in cash prizes:

According to the Taco Festival Facebook page, The Cottonwood Taco Pirates took Reserve Grand Champion (2nd place overall) on Saturday and Grand Champion (1st place overall) on Sunday. And according to Rick Phillips, festival organizer and Valley restauranteur, his own spot Bootleggers won the Peoples Choice award for Best Taco.

"Pretty cool since we couldn't compete in main event due to conflict of interests [my event, my restaurant])," Phillips wrote in an email to New Times.

Bootleggers bartender Gavin Peña also won the Craft Cocktail Competition judged by Ross Simon, Jason Asher and Aaron May, according to Phillips.

You'll be able to see the complete list of winners on the Arizona Taco Festival website tomorrow.

In the meantime, check out more photos from the event in our slideshow of the Arizona Taco Festival.
