You may not have heard of restaurateurs and sisters Hue and Lan Tran, but chances are you're probably familiar with their restaurants: Rice Paper, the modern Vietnamese restaurant in Phoenix opened in 2011; Saigon Kitchen, their family's two-year-old traditional Vietnamese eatery in Surprise; and Bonjour Vietnam, the duo's French-Vietnamese spot inside downtown's Hotel San Carlos, opened last October.

The latest concept, a Vietnamese bistro, is planned to open this fall. And this time, it's in Scottsdale.

According to the Republic, Slanted Rice will be a combination of Rice Paper and Saigon Kitchen and will be owned and operated by one of the sisters, Hue Tran, along with her fiancé, Tyrone Chu.

Rice Paper is okay, but the hole in the wall Viet restaurants that are all over town are 4 times cheaper, and significantly better as well. The taste isn't even close.
