Former Country Club Chefs Opening Wood-Fired Pizza Joint in Chandler
At least that's the path chefs Marshall Reichert (Cottonwood Country Club) and Tyler Anderson (Palo Verde Country Club) decided to take. The duo plans to open H&H City Pizza (the name a nod to Reichert's and Anderson's wives, Hayley and Heidi) in Chandler the first week of October.
Here's what pizza fans can expect.
Featuring pizzas wood-fired at 800 degrees using Arizona pecan and oak, hand-stretched pizza dough, and house-baked bread, the casual H&H City Pizza is described as taking a new approach to pizza by "using local, quality ingredients, and combining them in unexpected ways."
That means signature pizzas like the Oscar topped with Hollandaise sauce, crab, asparagus, and Fontina; the Asian Persuasion which features peanut sauce, chow mein noodles, and roasted chicken; and even one called Strawberry Fusion that includes strawberry preserves, pecans, and cream cheese.
More traditional-style pizzas, such as a four-cheese, veggie, and meat-lover's version, are also available along with salads, starters, sandwiches, and desserts including an Apple Purse -- a wood-fired pasty with an apple cinnamon filling.
"We always like to ask ourselves," says Reichert and Anderson, "'Who in the Valley is delivering wood-fired pizza?' and 'Who is putting crab and avocado on a wood-fired pizza?' Well, we are."
Along with a BYOB dine-in option, H&H City Pizza also offers take-out and delivery.
