Summer is coming to an end, and while the rest of the country is in mourning, we're celebrating. Now begins the time when the Valley of the Sun comes to life, and now that we can actually stand to be in that sunshine, our favorite season is finally kicking off. Bring on the fall and with it a calendar full of food festivals!
Rockin' Taco Street Fest
When: Saturday, September 14 (4 to 10 p.m.)
Where: El Palacio Restaurant & Cantina of Chandler
How much: $5
What to eat / drink: Homestyle Mexican cuisine, award-winning salsas, taco-eating contest, and Corona
Flagstaff Fall Craft Beer Festival
When: Saturday, September 21 (1 to 4 p.m., VIP admission at noon)
Where: Pepsi Amphitheater, Flagstaff
How much: $29 GA, $49 VIP
What to eat / drink: Hors d'oeuvres by Taverna Greek Grill accompany samples from 24 brewing companies (Grand Canyon, Four Peaks, Mudshark, Leinenkugel's, and more).
Roosevelt Row Chile Pepper Festival
When: Saturday, September 28 (5 to 11 p.m.)
Where: A.R.T.S. Market
How much: $15 admission (salsa samples included; food and beverages sold separately)
What to eat: Last year's winners were Jobot Coffee Shop's chiles and La Salsa Caliente's salsa. Also look for local food trucks and restaurants.
