Summer months can be hard on the restaurant biz, but this July, we welcomed a pair of county-themed bars and said both hello and goodbye to a pop-up restaurant worth popping into.

We'll have to bid adieu to a Tempe Mexican dining institution, but at least one Valley liquor store will rise from the ashes this fall thanks to local chef Mark Tarbell.

Big Earl's is good food but unfortunately, this is his 2nd attempt at BBQ in the valley. His first venue was in the old shopping center at 16th Street @ Buckeye Rd. Good food, wrong location.

Well, I'm sure a lot of people won't be going to that diarrhea-inducing Federico's anymore...

It looks like Europa Pastry Cafe on 16th Street is closed. There's a For Lease sign on the door. Such a shame.

i dunno if i would count voltaire (makeover) or sportsman's (getting taken over by mark tarbell) as restaurants that are "closing".
