After seven years, The Gelato Spot, the family-owned Italian frozen treat chain, has made the decision to shutter its location at Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale.

The remaining four locations continue to operate and currently are showcasing a rotating selection of signature flavors from 12 Valley chefs through the month of August.

Citing the reason for the location's closing as a need for a Gelato Spot similar to the store in Old Town Scottsdale (think the additions of wood-fired pizza and coffee), the company is looking to re-open in a new home -- and is asking for your help.

A post from Gelato Spot's Facebook page reads as follows:

"To our customers,

After seven years, we have decided not to renew our lease at the Scottsdale & Shea location. We are currently searching for a new location to re-open that is more representative of the Gelato Spot brand going into the future. The new location will be similar to our store in Old Town Scottsdale that serves wood-fired pizza and Pascucci coffee imported from Riccone, Italy.

We love all of our customers and we will continue to serve you the best and highest quality handmade gelato at our 4 other locations until we can find our new spot that we promise will be more amazing. Stay tuned we have many new things debuting as we continue to develop more flavors and that will be all the BUZZ!

Text G2 to 30364 and suggest what area/city/crossroads we should open our new location and you will receive a 50% off code valid at our 4 other locations."

Maybe they could take over Amy's Baking Company. Same strip mall, just a couple of doors down. It would put Amy's out of their misery.
