Keeping up with the daily deals offered by local restaurants and bars is pretty much impossible. It seems someone somewhere is always offering some sort of special -- which is great. But the key is knowing when and where to go.

You could Google- and Facebook-search your way around the city's dining specials. Or you could leave the dirty work to a new app, Whistl, which literally puts all those deals in the palm of your hand.

The app comes from a trio of local entrepreneurs: Perry Czopp and brothers Jeremy and Jacob Goldberg. Czopp, also the owner of The Coffee Chop, a service that provides coffee special events, personal training, consultation, and tours, says the partners have been "best friends since childhood." The coder behind the project, Jordan Singer, just graduated high school and is a partner as well.

Whistl is as easy-to-use as pulling up the free app on your phone and browsing through a list of specials and deals at restaurants nearby. You don't have to sign up for anything or prepay, there aren't any ads and since the information is displayed in real time you don't have to worry about deals expiring.

In the beta stages of the app's development, Czopp and the other partners input all the information but have recently opened the back end of the app to restaurant owners or managers to update themselves. For now, that service is free. All restaurant owners need to do is go to the website and register to be able to manage their own specials and business information.

In the future, as the app gains users, the service will be available to restaurants for a fee.

Download the most recent version of Whistl App through the Apple App store or get more information on the Whistl App website.
