Five Things To Eat and Drink This Weekend in Metro Phoenix
Looking for something to put in your mouth this weekend? Here are a few things we have on the books.
Lauren Saria Proof's bacon-wrapped meatloaf
Proof Backyard BBQ
Tonight Proof, the casual All-American eatery at the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale, is inviting guests to their patio for a classic backyard barbeque. From 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26 Proof's charcoal grill will be cooking up hangar steak, honey cayenne chicken, pork ribs and more. Guests will also get family-style appetizers, sides and desserts as well as "pocket the pint" beer specials -- meaning you can keep the glass for your own souvenir. And the impressive views of the Troon Mountains to be enjoyed with live music in the background, come free. The dinner costs $39 a person and reservations are recommended. Call 480-513-5085.

Prickly Pear Cactus Fruit Class
Despite what we might be led to believe, cacti are for more than just exotic desert landscaping - you can eat them too. Now, we're not recommending you go out and bare hand any prickly fruits but you can learn how to properly harvest, prepare and preserve prickly pear cactus fruit this weekend at Boyce Thompson Arboretum. This Saturday, July 27, Jean Groen and Robert Lewis will lead a workshop on how to pick and process the fruit. Pre-registration isn't necessary and the class is included in the daily admission price of $10.
