Citing the success of its Gilbert location, which opened in June of last year, Togo's, the franchise-based sandwich shop with nearly 250 locations along the West Coast, has announced it's picking up the pace for new locations across the Grand Canyon State.

But this ain't the first time Togo's has tangoed with the Valley.

Before the Gilbert location, Togo's made a bid at building customer love with locations in Phoenix, Chandler, and Scottsdale, all of which shuttered a few years ago.

But now, according to RestaurantNews.com, the San Diego-based sandwich chain, started in 1971 by a college student, plans to add 25 new restaurants in cities like Phoenix, Scottsdale, Flagstaff, Tempe, and Tucson, among others.

RestaurantNews.com goes on to say that Arizona residents and Togo's franchisees Monty and Diana Coury, who own the Gilbert Togo's, will open their second Togo's location in Maricopa County this fall and a third in early 2014.

"The local reaction to Togo's has been fantastic," the Courys tell RestaurantNews.com. "People want Togo's in Arizona and see our brand as a step above the other sandwich chains.

Will it be different this time around? Time will tell.

Togo's menu offers sub-style sandwiches, salads, wraps, and soup. Wanna hop aboard the Togo's franchise wagon in Arizona? You'll need to have a net worth of $300,000 and be ready to cough up about $150,000 of it for a single restaurant.

There used to be a number of ToGos in the Phx Metro area, but most closed down a couple years back.  I'm not sure what would be different today.  If anything, today there is more competition.

Who says that the Arizona economy isn't growing - we've added tons of jobs at Jersey Mikes, Firehouse Subs, Jimmy Johns, Which Which and now Togos (all of which have seemed to either opened for the first time or expanded over the past year).  Great, high-paying, benefit providing jobs.  We'll definitely work our way out of the unemployment probems we face with these great new job opportunities.
