Artichoke is the word this weekend at Singh Farms
It's artichoke season, y'all, which means we're looking forward to peeling and devouring as many 'chokes as we can get our hands on.

This weekend Singh Farms in Scottsdale will be getting in on the artichoke action with their Aritchoke Extravaganza on Saturday, May 4.

In celebration of artichoke season they're offering fresh-picked artichokes for $.50 a pop. And in case you're intimidated by all those leaves, they'll also have a chef on-site to help guests figure out how to grow, harvest and prepare the veggie.

If you're not looking for artichokes (for some crazy reason, because it is, after all, an artichoke event) they'll also have Boho Farm's spectacular lemon curd and jellies, Goldwater Mercantile's hot sauces, musical guest Roman Orona, and local artist Hugo Medina.

The following produce/products will be available:

green onion
i'itoi onion
giant onion
chard
red mustard
rosemary
beets
turnips
carrots
thyme
curry
sage
arugula
oranges
mulberries
parsley
celery
kale
raw honey

As it heats up, you might be looking for more places like Singh Farms, where you can pick up produce. Here's our list of six places to satiate your love of local produce during the summer months.

We grow artichokes in our garden and have great, great, great success with them.  We probably have 30 of them growing right now in various states of almost ready to harvest.  They also make a really cool plant (but you have to chop it way back in the fall).  If you have some extra space and want an interesting landscape plant that also grows a yummy vegie, I highly recommend them.
