It's been about a year and a half since Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill announced it would build its newest Valley location on the southwest corner of 16th Street and Bethany Home Road.

Fast-forward through a battle with strip mall tenant Zipps Sports Grill, the battle's resolution, and the restaurant's construction. Now (finally) it's grand opening time for the new Central Phoenix Z'Tejas on Monday, April 22.

The new Z'Tejas is the 20-year-old Scottsdale-based company's fifth Valley location (the chain also has restaurants in California, Texas, and Utah), and it's one built from the ground-up to blend in with the neighborhood's surrounding homes.

Featuring five dining rooms (each with a different feel), side panels that open to the outdoors, a greenhouse room with a retractable roof, and a "living wall" inset with live
plants, the new restaurant will seat around 290 guests and will continue its menu of Southwestern food, seasonal items, and specialty cocktails.

why are you announcing this? Are you going to tell about new Red Lobsters, Burger Kings, Panda Express, Olive Garden, and other mediocre fast casual "resturants" too?

Never really had anything that great at a Z'Tejas, and not too happy about having this one at that intersection. Traffic and parking are already nuts over there. I've almost been hit by cars a few times, and I did see someone hit a kid on their bike. Drive safe everyone.

I was at PHX City Grill last night and it took me 10 minutes to find a parking spot. I can't imagine what it will be like once ZTejas opens.

As long as it doesn't impact parking at the Garage.

CAN'T WAIT!! Chambord Margaritas and Red Chile and Mango Steak Salad are my faves.

Meh. Think I'll just go the extra 100 feet and eat at TEXAZ Grill.

@davelog I could not agree more! TEXAZ Grill is the place to be. Unless you are in the mood for healthy food from Luci's across the street. I can't help but wonder how many confused out of towners will mix up TEXAZ and ZTEJAS.
