If you're a coffee connosieur, you might already have heard about Black Ivory Coffee, which is brewed from beans that have been chew up and pooped out by elephants. Yes, we're talking about elephant poop beer. Supposedly being inside the giant pachyderms gives the beans extra special smoothness that can't be gained in a less-distrusting-sounding way.

And because, why stop there, there's a new elephant poop item floating around the food world: Elephant poop beer -- a stout to be exact.

Japan's Sankt Gallen Brewery released their Un, Kono Kuro beer on April 1st. Shockingly (or maybe not because it's in Japan where they like octopus ice cream) the beer sold out within hours.

The name is a pun on the Japanese word for "crap" (unko). One Japanese blogger explained the name as having two meanings phonetically: "Yeah, This Is Black" or "Sh!t Black." Oh yeah, and the bottle features a drawing of an elephant pooping.

But as weird as the whole things sounds, word from those who tried the coffee stout is that it's really darn good. It's been described as having a bitter aroma and bittersweet "afterglow."

Of course at about $1,100 a keg, we're not expecting to test it for ourselves anytime soon.

The high cost however, probably has a lot to do with the fact that the Black Ivory Coffee costs about $68 a cup. As you can imagine, waiting for elephants to eat, digest and then poop out coffee beans is far from efficient. And we're not even going to try to imagine how much they have to pay the people who get stuck picking out all those tiny beans from giant piles of elephant shit.
