Kitchen Nightmares
Given the shit storm that happened at the Kitchen Nightmares taping at Amy's Baking Company last December, rumors were flying that the Scottsdale restaurant, whose name-calling owner, Amy Bouzaglo, made the news in 2010 after an angry tirade on Yelp following a one-star review, would never see itself on Fox's "reality" show starring loud-mouthed chef Gordon Ramsay.

Silly rumor mongers. Amy's is not only going to be on Kitchen Nightmares, it's going to be the season finale of Kitchen Nightmares.

Fox has revealed the synopsis for the Amy's Baking Company season finale on Kitchen Nightmares as the following:

"Chef Ramsay heads to Scottsdale, AZ, to visit Amy's Baking Company, which might be one of the cleanest restaurants in the history of the show. Cleanliness aside, Ramsay and the patrons find a number of issues with the food and service. Owners Amy and Samy refuse to pay attention to any critiques, but will this duo listen to Chef Ramsay, or force him to walk away?"

Want to tune in? Of course you do. We all do. Watch the Amy's Baking Company season finale of Kitchen Nightmares on Fox Friday, May 10 (8 p.m. ET/PT). Check your cable guide for channel information and details.

I HAVE been to their restaurant and witnessed  Sammy's rudeness. They both need to get out of my home town (Scottsdale)  and take their  insane attitudes and crappy foods with them. I was not surprised in the least  o hear of their  legal troubles that follow them. They act like felons. Amy's incarceration  should of taught her to become a  low key  and fly under  the Radar..  You'd also think Sammy's  own ongoing legal troubles  with his back ground of being evicted from other Countries for Felonious activity would of taught him to also be low key and fly under the Radar. They are both INSANE.

Well I went to visit the website to see the images of the cakes and stuff but it seems to have been taken down. It certainly was a "jaw dropping" episode for Kitchen Nightmares. But after reading everybody's comments and given what I saw on the show—I actually feel sorry for them—her more so than the husband. While everyone was pointing out how she needs professional help,—more importantly, this woman needs spiritual help. Her reactions and words are really a cry for help. She doesnt realize how she is and who she hurts because she is so inwardly focused on her own emotions. I have seen this before (closer than I would have wanted to). Allot of this "Character Disorder" goes way back to childhood. She may have been the kind of girl where everyone in the family never said no to her, or lied to her so she would never be angry or upset and have a tantrum. In doing so, she never learned how to deal with her own emotions—which is why she lashes out the way she does. So when the family makes excuses for her behavior now—this is how you know where she learned it. Does that mean she is nulled of taking responsibility? Absolutely not! Because at some point we grow up from childhood and that type of behavior is no longer appropriate. They either grow up with the, "I'm the victim", or its, "someone elses fault". I am a care-sitter and I see this happening now in children who are 4yrs and 5yrs of age! Its all LEARNED BEHAVIOR. And if the parents refuse to recognize and address these behaviors now, society will have more Amys' and Samis'. In fact, society is already full of people like them—some of whom have posted comments here. Most people cant handle constructive criticism. They think its an "attack" and they get defensive, as she did on the show. And most people never take responsibility for their words/and or actions. Those type of people tend to utter their last word (what they think is the final point) and rudely walk away.

Amy or Amanda (or whatever ever her real name is) is beyond repair on a human level. Only Jesus can help her. And if her family and friends had any care in their hearts, they would pray for her CONSTANTLY. Heck, they should pray for her husband too. He is just as lost she is. The man obviously has anger management issues. Yet another one who was probably never told, "no".

I truly feel sorry for them. This goes way beyond the restaurant. In fact, the restaurant is just an added "thorn on their side" which is bringing the worst out of each of their characters. They need to let it go. There are deeper issues to deal with here. I will certainly pray for them.

Ok, although i am not a chef, i have managed several Steakhouses while living in Arizona, in Phoenix and Mesa and a town up north called Prescott,h the food was, "a piss poor joke" the desserts were amazing. If for 1 moment I had seen a sign saying manager needed I would have sent them my resume right then and there. Amy indeed has an uncanny talent for baking but as for her cooking food abilities, poor is an overestimate of her quality."

I think they would be better off sticking to the deserts, if in fact, Amy truly makes them.  They could modify their work hours to have more leisure time since they don't trust anyone to take over in their absence & this might help w/the stress and criticism.  In N. Calif where we moved from there were a couple of good restaurants who only served breakfasts...something like from 8 or 9am to 2pm.  Deserts could be timed for afterschool hours to 10/11pm weekdays, more hours on weekends.

I love Scottsdale, but will definitely boycott this place.   Stealing tips from the servers is terrible.  That greedy old man should be ashamed of himself.   The wife should be made to eat her own food.  You can see even on TV how undercooked that pizza was.   She belongs in the looney bin!    One thing I didn't understand is why these young girls work for this creepy, crazy people when they know they are not going to be given their well deserved tips.    Wonder how much longer they will be in business or maybe they should just stick to making the desserts only.     One last laugh: did Amy say Samy used to be a playboy in Vegas?     LOL LOL LOL

First of all hats off to Chef Ramsey for having to deal with folks like that; secondly yelling at customers, putting hands on customers Yes I can see the Aunt is right Samy has issues.  The deserts do look fantastic; her calling is as a pastry chef it would seem; the only way to deal with restaurants like that is not to go to them! Also stealing the waitresses tips UNREAL! As the Chef says on one of his other shows "Shut it down"!

First off Amy is the most ungrateful person in the United States.  She is consumed by taking truthful criticism the wrong way and her very nature is absurd.  It shows that she has a criminal record and doing her time was obviously not enough.  No one deserves a bullet to the head or to be left out in the desert but I hope Ramsay does another show where the hundred servers she went through in the last year get to meet her out in the desert to beat the shit out of her..

Her restaurant in Denver was wonderful...Samy had nothing to do with that.  Her focus was desserts and she had a couple salads, a couple sandwiches available, and the food was great!

I just watched the show.  OMG.  they both need help.  lets hope after this no one goes there and they have to close. WOW  that women is crazy.

SickOfBull

Wow! This woman is a "C" word -- Crazy. The husband is completely ineffectual because he thinks he's landed a hotty but she's really as toxic as Clostridium botulinum and she's not really that hot. I've really never seen this level of DENIAL before but there's a first for everything. The bakery items may be considered good but this type of attitude in the consumer world is only a recipe for failure and disaster. I would normally wish good luck to the owners but in this case I would have to say, "I hope you hit rock bottom, get a glimpse of the real world and take a look in the mirror." As for the dedicated patrons, try caffeinated coffee in the morning so you can wake up and smell the reality. Unbelievable.

I have read all your post on all the links and would just like to say a few things.  Amy is my niece.  She is my sister’s daughter.  So to start off first I would like to say that Amy used to be an amazing woman.  Her life change drastically when she got involved with Samy.  He is very domineering and very mean.  If the show had continued you would have seen that he is way worse than Amy.  One of the things that bother me the most with the show and with the posts is that everyone is saying how sorry they feel for Samy.  Would you feel sorry for him if he told you he was going to take your niece out and leave her in the desert with a bullet in her head for the coyotes to eat if she ever left him?  Would you feel sorry for him then?  I’m not saying that what Amy did is ok…I was surprised by the way she was.  She was never like that before.  Never mean or hateful or angry.  Just so you know a couple of things.  1) her real name is Amanda, but she has always been called Amy by her family 2) she has never been a stripper and worked at the Cheetah lounge in Vegas 3) her desserts ARE homemade…all of them 4) she has never had a facelift…although I have not seen her for a while (as Samy has not allowed her to have contact with her family) she is very thin now 5) she is not a transplanted Jew 6)she is not a gold digger…she is a very hardworking woman and does believe in herself (even though she shows it in the wrong way) 7) she is pretty…she is beautiful…and very loving 8)yes, she does have a criminal record (as does he)…but I have to say as people do “Do the crime…pay the time”…she did do the time unlike so many other people.  She knows what she did was wrong and she willing gave herself up to the law to be punished.  I’m sure a lot of you won’t eat there…I won’t eat  there either (mostly because I’m not allowed in there)…but even then I probably wouldn’t go .  I just wanted to post this hoping to….I don’t really know what I was hoping.  All I know is that this whole thing, the show, the posts, everything has made me very sad.  Sad for the beautiful woman I used to know.  Hoping that one day she will leave him and move on with her life…and hope that she doesn’t end up in the desert.  Always, her Aunt Marsha

@wikimoose She doesn't make them.  See the response to the comment above for a screencap, she admitted on facebook that they are resold (and that it's okay because "Walmart does it" and "reselling is American, which is why we lied to Gordon, he's English and doesn't understand it").  Think about it:  if she really makes the baked goods fresh every day (which is what she claims on her website), when does she do it?  She's the only cook:  prepping a kitchen for dinner service AND being the only cook (even using some frozen stuff) would take her entire day (my boyfriend is a cook, at a restaurant that has 1/4 the number of seats of Amy's Bakery, they have 4 cooks work from noon to midnight every day to prep and cook dinner... but then they actually ARE making all the pasta and everything else from scratch).  Those baked goods looked way too fancy to be done by someone who is also the only cook/prep person.  Not to mention the fact that 1. all the pictures on her website and Facebook have been found elsewhere on the internet and have all been stolen from other bakers, and 2. she admitted that she is reselling the desserts.

@SHUTITDOWN See my comment above regarding the desserts.  She doesn't make them, she admitted as much on her facebook page (but it's fine to resell things because "Walmart does it" and it's the American way.. which is why Gordon didn't understand).

@KTKT no let him take all of the servers there to eat and send the crap back and not tip them after running them for drinks and such, then the servers and ramsay should take out there own food that he makes and leave them the taste as a tip

@no1cares She isn't making the desserts either.  See my comment a few comments up.  She admitted she wasn't on her facebook page, and all the pictures of baked goods on her site are stolen from other bakers.  Someone commenting above posted a screencap of where she admitted she was reselling the desserts.  There is no way she could bake all that stuff anyway, she is the only cook for that whole restaurant, she would have to spend the early part of the day prepping food and later on cook dinner.  And if she was baking, she wouldn't have stolen 100% of the pictures of the baked goods... literally 100%.  People on Facebook went through every photo and found the sites where those photos were originally posted.. the people who own the photos have also posted and they are pissed!

@no1cares @ourfamily The show brought to light a lot of things, but there is much more wrong than just the behavior that they displayed there. Many of the images on their website are stolen and are used without permission. Amy in particular assaults and verbally abuses others. She uses homophobic slurs and gendered slurs against her customers. Both she and Sammy show an utter lack of professionalism, so it is easy to see that people hold significant doubts that either can run a successful business. They have also admitted to several instances of lying and have admitted that their desserts and other food items are not made by them, but are instead bought.

tired330
tired330

@no1cares I doubt that seriously, cause if she could cook then it would still be the case on the show, you don't forget once that you have learned. She cant cook she might be able to bake but that is in question since she cant even cook a pizza, one of the easiest things to do for a baker..so yes I really believe that she isn't baking either

@ourfamily  Abusive men sometimes use gaslighting to turn a vulnerable but other wise decent person crazy. Then he'll use other people reacting to the crazy he created in her as evidence that he is the normal one & she is the one with problems. If that's what is happening w/ your niece, your family has all my sympathy.

@ourfamily She is lucky to have you as an aunt. It is always good to see a person through the loving eyes of a relative. I hope she gets the help she needs and leaves that man for good. But in all reality, she should just stick to pastries and not a restaurant. Her incredible insecurity does not allow he to handle criticism. It really does border on mental illness, it is that bad. I am sorry, I hope your niece gets help ...

@ourfamily There are two kinds of women in abusive relationships...victims and volunteers...and it sure sounds like Amy is not just a volunteer, she's a mutual combatant.   It sounds as if she has learned nothing from her past criminal conviction.  If anything, she sounds worse.  Who keeps their servers' tips?  A thief.  An abusive, entitlement mentality, greedy shrew.  What kind of woman won't allow her family members in her own restaurant?   No one is holding her hostage.  Accept the fact that she's in that marriage because she's getting what she wants out of it.  Lastly, who ignores the vast reservoir of culinary knowledge from a successful international chef?  Uhhh, apparently a very angry lady who needs a serious attitude adjustment.  Consider yourself lucky that you're not in her toxic sphere.

@ourfamily I am soooo sorry that your family is going through this.  It's hard to see our loved ones change, both by choice (chose Sammy) and by another human being.  I know what it's like to see a loved one collapse upon themselves due to a disturbed man.  They do become very defensive to everyone because that becomes a way of life for them.  I don't feel so bad for Amy though, she can get away from him, no matter what he tells her, it just takes strength.  Also, she really appears to have gone too far on many fronts with her employees and customers.  I am surprised people are sticking up for Sammy, he seemed wicked to me as well.  They both need help, but that is up to them, I will pray that they both choose the right thing.  I also hold up prayers for your family, I know it's hard to watch and not be able to do anything, not to mention to have others judge you because of her decisions and actions.  Hold your head high and keep up the prayers:)

@ourfamily   Aunt Marsha, your niece has gone round the bend. If this were any other show and you hadn't just spilled the beans on Amanda/Amy I would have wondered if any of this were real. This woman needs professional help. Let's all remember Sammy and Amy invited Chef Ramsey into their restaurant. The way they both treat other people belies all the God talk Amy was spouting. Just sad.

@ourfamily Well, Amy comes off as incredibly insecure. Through the noise of the firestorm of comments on the restaurant's facebook page, I see some lovely dessert artistry. But for her to not be capable of hearing criticism from customers is probably fatal in the restaurant biz.

@jotamaria98 @joepal48 So not only is she a bad cook, a terrible manager, and clearly uneducated (based on the diction in that screencap), but also a nationalistic xenophobe. Must be nice living someone like that.

@arizonaeagletarian @ourfamily  Amy is very insecure...she always has been.  I haven't seen the storm on facebook...her desserts are delicious and are handmade even though the ravioli isn't!  I agree she needs to be able to take criticism. All I know is when they first opened the restaurant Samy was the one yelling and cussing at people all the time. I know...I was there...and I can't even tell you the hell that was going on there! She was very meek and only concerned with the business.  Unfortunately...this probably is fatal.

exileandcunning

@negativeloner I agree with tired300 that not all criminals are criminals for life.  Look at all the reformed drug addicts.  If someone has the right support they can get better.  A lot of times people break their own morals because of desperation or pressure from people around them, but they can change.  Unfortunately it doesn't seem like Amy is able to change.  She could have made a new life after leaving prison, she even had a 2nd chance and was able to open this restaurant, but she's obviously screwed that up beyond even the worst of the worst restaurants Gordon has dealt with!  I've seen many episodes of Kitchen Nightmares; if Gordon walks out on you, you are seriously in trouble.  I thought I had seen crazy people and messed up restaurants on that show, none of them even hold a candle to Amy and Samy.

For one thing, both of them need to REALIZE something is wrong before they can change.  They were totally up front that they wanted to be on the show just so that Gordon could validate them and tell them that their food is perfect and their customers are "haters and losers."  When he wouldn't go along with them, and actually tried to be honest and help them, well you saw what happened. But they refuse to even think about the fact that something could be wrong.  Anyway, it's a shame that Amy could have turned her life around, she was given way more chances than many other ex-cons are given (and many of those people DO turn their lives around) but she is obviously much too mentally ill to even accept help.

exileandcunning
exileandcunning

@ourfamily @arizonaeagletarian The desserts are NOT homemade.  I've already left several comments about it so just scroll up for the evidence.  All the pictures of baked goods are stolen and she and Samy admitted they are reselling baked goods on their Facebook page.

negativeloner
negativeloner

@tired330 @negativeloner What you engaged in with your post is merely the fallacy of personal experience. What is true of you (and we only have your word, dubious as it is given your background in check fraud) and one notable example (Frank Abagnale, "the guy") is generally not true of most ex-cons, hence the high recidivism rate for most of them. In any case, the story is about Amy - also convicted of fraud - who mismanages her business and treats everyone but herself atrociously. Classic symptoms of sociopathic personality disorder. A con is a con. You'll always have to explain yourself to every employer when they check the criminal history portion of your application form, which usually results in 98% of your resumes being fed into the paper shredder. The other 2% are fast food outlets or general labor temp jobs who need eggheads willing to work minimum wage. :-)

tired330
tired330

@negativeloner no this is not true about the criminal part...As I have done my bad days of writing checks that were bad,I have rose above it and now I own a college degree in criminal justice and also working on my masters in psychology so yes criminals can change...look at the guy from CATCH ME IF YOU CAN after his stint in prison he is a very successful FBI contractor and he is also the one that made businesses aware of the check writing frauds on how to deteact and protect themselves from it.....so on this I say you are wrong..

negativeloner
negativeloner

@ourfamily @arizonaeagletarian You sound like a great aunt: realistic, fair, and yet quietly supportive of your deranged relative. I think she owes you an apology and a free cake (since the rest of her food is inedible). Oh, and once a con, always a con. It's a personality thing: Even people who quit drugs are still addicts, and everything they do reflects that predeliction. Same goes for criminals.
