New Cyclist-Centric Restaurant to Open in Sunnyslope (and We've Got the Menu)

Bicycle-themed décor from local artists, an all-day happy hour for cyclists, and dishes like green chili chicken wraps, short rib poutine, and a cocktail called "The Drunk Biker" are just some of the offerings at Spoke & Wheel, the new cyclist-centric restaurant coming to Sunnyslope on Monday, February 25.

Located at 8525 North Central Avenue (in the former Dillon's on Top of Central), Spoke & Wheel comes courtesy of Wildthyme Restaurant Group, whose associates include Heinrich Stasiuk and chef Mercer Mohr, owners of Timo, the wine bar in Sunnyslope, and Brick, the gourmet pizzeria downtown.

Here's what diners can expect and a sneak peek at the menu.

Spoke & Wheel's menu, created by chef-owner Mohr, will offer upscale tavern food in the form of small plates, sharable dishes, and entrees. Many dishes have a Southwestern twist. Handcrafted cocktails, wine, and beer also will be available.

The new space will seat about 100 people and will feature exposed brick walls, a stainless steel bar, bicycle-themed décor, and a dog-friendly patio with a fire pit.

My Voice Nation Help

Oh, bright idea, have people show up on bicycles, get drunk, and then ride home, presumably in the dark. Most people I see do not use lights or helmets when riding home from the bar, like a bunch of idiots.

Wishing them luck (break an egg?).  So many restaurants have tried and failed in that spot...
