Roasted Bull Testicle Stout. Really.

A Colorado brewery's hilariously deadpan April Fools joke regarding a "Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout" has become a reality. According to Wynkoop Brewery, their bull testicle beer "annoucenment" video was so popular that people actually showed up April 1st looking for a taste of the beer.
After some additional inquiries they relented and set to making a "ballsy" beer flavored with a distinctly Colorado dish. Their first run, produced just in time for the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, apparently debuted very well and drew large crowds.
So what goes into a testicle flavored beer? Around 25 pounds of roasted bull testicles, apparently. According to the brewery's blog, it also includes:
The beer is made with Colorado-grown base malts, roasted barley, seven specialty malts (including special B and smoked malt) and Styrian Goldings hops. The beer gets a small dose of sea salt, too. "It gives the beer an extra layer of Rocky Mountain oyster flavor," Brown notes, "and additional texture."
And as to how it tastes?
Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout is an assertive foreign-style stout, slightly viscous, with a deep brown color. It has equally deep flavors of chocolate syrup, Kahlua, and espresso, along with a palpable level of alcohol and a savory umami-like note.It finishes dry and roasted with a fast-fading hop bite.
So what started as a joke and then a limited run for a beer festival, might actually become a regular product of Wynkoop Brewery. According to an interview that they did with TODAY.com, the brewery is giving serious thought to doing a run of it in cans.
