In March, Tucson-based craft beer brewery, Nimbus, opened its first Valley location of chews and brews in the Scottsdale Seville Center at the corner of Scottsdale Road and Indian Bend Road.

Eight months later, the monkey is gone.

The brewpub featured more than 16 beers on tap, eats like burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, and snacks, and live music on featured evenings. It also claimed to have the best outdoor patio in Scottsdale -- a pet-friendly, 2,000-square foot space with state-of-the-art, hi-def screens and sound.

In April, the Arizona Daily Star reported that Nimbus Brewing filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with brewery owner Jim Counts citing gas meter problems, conflict with his partner, and outstanding lawsuits as the explanation behind the reorganization.

The Arizona Daily Star went on to say that in October, Counts sold a majority stake in the Tucson restaurant, Nimbus Brewing Company, and that currently, Brandon Williams and Don Norris (who opened the Scottsdale location) "own the rights to open Nimbus-branded restaurants and are essentially partners of Counts in promoting the Nimbus beer brand."

This closing makes me mad. They had the perfect setup with the TVs, fire, outdoor dog friendly area, and great beer.  The SERVICE was HORRID and food was ho hum!  Slow, clueless servers with a loud bartender.  Worse is that as a former bartender at m any joints, none of the servers I experienced after six trips there had the "eagle eye."  The eagle eye is the bartender and server who sees ANY drink (water or beer) 1/3 empty and either asks you for more or at least fills your water, soda, coffee (all four of these issues were a big FAIL there).

I feel for the staff getting the shaft but honestly, some really need to ask themselves were they average services, good servers or GREAT servers.

I'm ticked to lose access to great beer and I can tell you that we gave up GRUDGINGLY on the food and staff but let it be known my family WANTED this place to succeed.  The managers have to account for some of this as do the servers and bartender.

Damn it, I liked the beer and my dog loved that patio.

Hey craft beer lovers!

A new brewery opened in Scottsdale about 2.5 weeks ago called Fate Brewing. They are on Shea about 1/4 block east of Scottsdale Road, great happy hour specials, awesome beer, and yummy food. I think they are still doing some hiring if anyone from Nimbus is looking. Great service!

They closed without notifying their employees..... from my understanding, an employee showed up for his shift to find the doors locked. This caused a mass text message to be sent out which is how I (former employee) found out about the store closing. Some people worked at 2 PM and found out as they were leaving for work that the store was closed. There may have even been employees who did not find out at all and showed up to find the restaurant closed. We had no notification of this WHATSOEVER.... I know the place was doing terribly, bad reviews on Yelp, customer complaints, mediocre food, flies everywhere, etc. but geez would it have killed them to at least have given us a couple weeks notice!!!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS, RIGHT?

I used to be a fan of this place - love the beer. However, they filed for bankruptcy 1 month after opening and still held Groupon and Living Social deals? I JUST purchased a deal for this place... sounds like some shady business to me.

Where will I get 3 dollar Happy Hour Monkey Shine or Stumblers now? Damnit! Feel bad for the GM, cooks and staff...nobody forewarned them! Hey unemployment line here we go! There is some good people involved and they got hurt!

Loved their Monkeyshine beer, but the service was abysmal. Still, I'm sad to see them go. Especially since I never got the chance to take advantage of their great looking patio with my dog. On to the next one, I guess.

The food was never up to sports bar level let alone bistro level.

I like Nimbus and their beer, but had poor service and blah food both times I went to their restaurant so I gave up. Sad to see a local place go out of business, but not surprised in this case.

I wonder if the location is why this place closed. I have only been in the Valley for a few months, but have heard people mention several businesses that have been in that location. I wonder if this will affect their bottling projects. Not a big fan of their beers, anyway. It was a neat environment, though.
