As far as successful food hookups go, the longstanding one between well-known local pastry business Tammie Coe Cakes and La Grande Orange, the popular grocery and pizzeria in Arcadia, may be one of the Valley's best-known.

But the relationship has come to a end.

In a Facebook post today on the page of Tammie Coe Cakes and MJ Breads (the artisan bread business owned and operated by Tammie's husband, breadmaker MJ Coe), the notable sweets maker announced that the relationship the business had enjoyed with La Grand Orange had "officially run its course" and that Tammie Coe pastries would no longer be sold there.

"We certainly would not be in our current position without our relationship with La Grande Orange, and we will absolutely remain friendly with our Arcadia neighbors," a portion of the post reads. "We will continue to support their business and wish them success in their future endeavors."

Coe's pulling out of La Grande Orange will be disappointing to fans of both businesses: Those who have enjoyed popping into the grocery for a Tammie Coe cupcake, cookie, or slice of cake as well as La Grande Orange Pizzeria patrons wanting a stellar sweet treat after their meal.

But Coe's post states, "We realize that no longer being at LGO may seem like the end of an era to many of you, but we see this as just the beginning . . ."

The full Facebook posts reads as follows:

"To our loyal customers,

I wanted to take a moment to personally inform you that the long-standing relationship that Tammie Coe Cakes has enjoyed with La Grande Orange has officially run its course, and that our pastries will no longer be sold at the La Grande Orange location in Arcadia.
We certainly would not be in our current position without our relationship with La Grande Orange, and we will absolutely remain friendly with our Arcadia neighbors. We will continue to support their business and wish them success in their future endeavors.
At the same time, we are thrilled to be moving forward with new retail partners that will feature our creations as Tammie Coe Cakes and MJ Bread continue our amazing growth ... a growth that has been made possible by all of you over the years!

Be sure to look for Tammie Coe Cakes at gourmet grocery stores such as AJ's Fine Foods locations, including the AJ's on 44th Street and Camelback, which will start offering our "grab-and-go" foods on Friday, August 10.

And as always, you can find Tammie Coe Cakes at Tom's Thumb Fresh Market in North Scottsdale, Black Cat Coffee in Arcadia, Lux Central, Make Meaning at the Scottsdale Quarter, Delux Burger on 32nd Street in Phoenix and five Whole Foods Market locations across the Valley.

MJ Bread will continue to be available at fine restaurants and hotels throughout Phoenix, and we are delighted to tell you that in October you'll be able to find MJ Bread at farmers markets including the Camelback Market at Vincent's.

Additionally, we are very proud to inform you that we will be opening our newest retail location in Sky Harbor's Terminal 4, which is slated to open in January of 2013.
And of course, it's business as usual for Tammie Coe Cakes & MJ Bread at our location at 610 East Roosevelt Street in Downtown Phoenix. For those who have been there, you know that we offer a full menu for both breakfast and lunch in addition to the full line of Tammie Coe Cakes and MJ Bread. For those who have only experienced our pastries and breads in Arcadia, please come visit us downtown ... we are positive you'll love the experience!

We'll continue to run our bakery operations in Arcadia for the foreseeable future, which will be open for catering orders and custom orders.

We realize that no longer being at LGO may seem like the end of an era to many of you, but we see this as just the beginning: the new beginning for Tammie Coe Cakes and MJ Bread as we are able expose more people around the Valley to our wonderful pastry and artisan bread creations. Please join us as we celebrate by visiting our Roosevelt store and tasting all that we have to offer!

Both Michael John and I thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

With heartfelt appreciation,
Tammie and Michael John Coe"
