Enjoy a smoked ham sandwich while listening to the acoustic stylings of the next John Mayer? If so, you'll want to know about Potbelly Sandwich Shop, a Chicago-based, fast-casual chain with over 250 stores in several states.

The company is making its first foray into Arizona and plans to open three new locations in the Valley in the next few months.

In addition to coming-soon venues at CityScape and Seventh Avenue and McDowell (seriously, can this corner get any more chained up?), the first Potbelly to open will be in the Biltmore area in the Town and Country Shopping Center (2131 East Camelback Road.) The eatery will open on Tuesday, August 14.

Potbelly, whose tagline is "Good vibes, great sandwiches," specializes in hot hoagies on a choice of regular or multi-grain bread, salads, soups, smoothies, and hand-dipped shakes in addition to featuring live music from local musicians in many of its locations.

HELL YES! I have missed this place since I moved back to Arizona from Maryland. This place has some of the best sandwiches. I love Quizno's, but this place is going to give Quizno's a run for their money!!! I cannot wait for them to open up shop!!!!

Laura, mon cher, don't ask how much more chained up that corner can get; I think there's still two or three vacant spots.

It might be a fast-casual chain, but Potbelly makes a decent sandwich and I like that they feature local musicians nightly. They also hired local company Chasse Building Team do the construction for their three valley locations.

Is it just me - or has 7th Avenue and McDowell turned into a big food court (blah!)

OMG! So excited! I lived in DC for years and loved Potbelly. Looking forward to having one just down the street again. :)
