Campbell's Soup has created a new strategy to get you to buy their 115-year-old tomato soup. In honor of the 50th anniversary of Andy Warhol's iconic "32 Campbell's Soup Cans," which made its debut in 1962 and currently hangs at the MoMA in New York, Campbell's has teamed up with the Andy Warhol Foundation to release a line of Andy-inspired soup cans sold exclusively at Target, for the month of September.

But we've already spotted them on Target shelves in Phoenix.

The soup cans come in a variety of boldly colored pop art graphics, featuring Warhol quotes such as, "In the future everybody will be world famous for 15 minutes."

Since these special cans still carry the same old tomato soup as Campbell's regular line, what people will actually do with them is somewhat of a coin toss.

While some kitsch-friendly consumers plan on collecting the limited edition cans, possibly using them to decorate their retro-inspired kitchens, just as many other patrons will open, eat, and toss.

Either way pop art enthusiasts and soup lovers alike can buy the cans at the mere price of 79 cents a piece at select Target stores (we've already seen them on the shelves of Phoenix Metro Super Targets despite their official release date being set for this Sunday).

To really drain this soup can promotion for all it's worth, Campbell's has also created a Pop Art Portrait App at artofsoup.com, as well as a Campbell's soup memory game - they're going all out folks.

And while some of you may think the whole thing is completely cheesy, the rest of us don't mind grilling said cheesy and washing it down with a bowl of Andy's favorite soup.
