Beau Mac -- executive chef of Elements at Sanctuary Resort -- is our local celeb-chef and certifiably famous TV star, the high-energy, fast-talking BoSox buff who's truly in his element on the small screen. He's appeared on The Best Thing I Ever Made, Chopped All-Stars, Worst Cooks in America and, of course, Iron Chef. And now he's landed a gig on Beat the Chefs, a new series by GSN (formerly known as Game Show Network) premiering this coming Thursday, August 23rd, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

So Is it a game show or a food show or a food-game show? And who's beating whom?

The hour-long show pits everyday people who love to cook -- and come armed with their favorite recipes -- against three pros, who must prepare the same dish. A panel of judges will decide which version of, say, Granny's chicken and dumplings or Aunt Dimp's pound cake tastes the best.

MacMillan will be joined by chefs Antonia Lofaso and Jeff Henderson.

Lofaso was a favorite on Top Chef and a finalist on Top Chef All-Stars. She has worked at Spago (Beverly Hills) and Foxtail (LA) and currently acts as consulting chef for Black Market Liquor Bar in Studio City. Her first cookbook, The Busy Mom's Cookbook, comes out this month.

Henderson has worked at the Hotel Bel Air and L'Ermitage Beverly Hills, as well as serving as executive chef at Bellagio in Las Vegas. He authored the New York Times best seller Cooked (a memoir) a plans to open his own restaurant in LA in 2013.

The host of the show will be Matt Rogers (a finalist on the third season of American Idol), who continues his country music career as well as serving as correspondent on various sports and entertainment shows.

Resident judges will be James Beard award-winning food and travel journalist Brad A. Johnson and cookbook author Christy Jordan (Southern Plate: Classic Comfort Food That Makes Everyone Feel Like Family), who publishes a website called SouthernPlate.com.

Celebrity guest judges will include actor Eric Roberts (Julia's brother), Cristina Ferrare, Julia Powell (of Julie and Julia fame) and Melissa Rycroft (a finalist on Dancing with the Stars).
