Valley Resident Creates an Online Universal Recipe Box with SaucyPants.com

We're always on the look out for new and creative food sites and this one is from a local woman. Valley resident Kristi Murphy has started Saucy Pants. She's created a "universal recipe box" where you can add your favorite recipes to be able to refer to them later on.

The inspiration to create this online food tool came when she was first learning to cook. "I would ask my mom for recipes (as most people do when they are first starting out), and it would take days even weeks for her to get around to typing up her recipes and emailing them to me," she explains.

Eager to start cooking through family favorites in her own kitchen, and wanting access to her mom's recipes (and vice versa) all of the time, Saucy Pants was born.

You tag your recipes with subjects and the site will automatically create "cookbooks" and sort them for handy browsing. Right now it's all for personal use and share with your friends via email but Murphy tells us she's working on adding a Pinterest-style bookmarklet which will allow users to grab a recipe from any favorite foodie site and add it to their recipe box. Profiles will become public and you can search for and follow or share your recipes with your friends family and favorite celebrity chefs.

Murphy grew up a die-hard crafter. As a preteen, she even reverse engineered one of her dad's silk neckties so that she could figure out how they were made. It was that drive and willingness to make things happen that helped her put her this idea into action.

Users can also follow her blog "All Things Saucy" that includes recipes, entertaining ideas, party ideas, holiday ideas, ideas for the home, DIY crafts and the like. She's gotten some early praise from popular entertaining sites like Hostess with the Mostess and Celebrations.com.

Celebrations.com featured her Vintage Easter Brunch which features locally sourced treats like macarons from Essence Bakery, a coconut cake from Tammie Coe and muffins from Hillside Spot.
