Ten Favorite Metro Phoenix Farmers' Markets

Yes, believe it or not, Phoenix has ten farmers' markets. Actually, we have way more than ten, and we love them all, but the markets on this list really stand out from the rest.
So here's our list of ten favorites -- in no particular order.
10. Gilbert Farmers' Market -- Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., downtown Gilbert is buzzing with the locals shopping for their weekly bounty of locally grown produce, handcrafted cheeses, pastas, and baked treats from a good selection of vendors. Score veggies from One Windmill and Love Grows Farms, meats from Double Check Ranch, seafood from Davy Jones Seafood (when available), and pick up a couple jars of sweet mesquite honey from honey purveyor Made by Bees. The Gilbert Market has a rotating selection of food trucks that set up their rigs each Saturday, just in case you get hungry and don't want to fight the line at Liberty. And, if you go, don't forget to pet the rescue puppies or better yet, take one home!

9. The Market at The Wigwam Resort -- The front lawn of The Wigwam Resort is transformed into a local goods haven every Sunday from October through April from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. Pick up natural rubs and spices from Dust, certified organic veggies from Duncan Family Farms, cheese and butter from Rainbow Farms, and even pretty cupcakes and baked goods from Classic Cakes. It may be a drive for most of you, but it's worth checking out.
8. Roadrunner Park Farmers' Market -- This year-round Saturday market at Roadrunner park has been going strong with a variety of vendors for the last 22 years. You can find everything from tangy Crows Farm goat cheese to healthy herbs & teas from Southwest Herb to beautiful locally grown veggies from the Horny Toad Farm all on the spacious grounds of the well kept North Phoenix park. If you're interested in starting your own little garden be sure to check out seedling vendor Vilardi Gardens and put your hunger in check with delicious Saturday market eats from Gina Homemade.
7. Carefree Farmers' Market -- Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. across the street from Carefree's visitor center at Sundial Circle, local vendors bring a bounty of local goods to the beautiful town of Carefree. Enjoy the slow burn of Rising Hy's habanero olive oil and hot sauce, grab a croissant or two from Tempe favorite Essence, and stock up on pretty produce from Sweet Corn Organics. If you're lucky, you can catch Prescott's Valley View Farms and score chicken breast and whole fryers straight from the farm. We really like this market because it gives us a chance to slow down and take the scenic drive out to lovely Carefree.
