In 2011, when I wrote about the Valley's year in food trucks, Brad Moore, founder and president of the Phoenix Street Food Coalition and owner of the gourmet mobile hotdog eatery Short Leash Hotdogs (which he owns with wife Kat), told me the popularity of food trucks in Phoenix has made for good discussions with cities which traditionally have not allowed the mobile kitchens but are now willing to take a second look.

Looks like Moore's idea of creating a food truck scene outside of the Downtown area is about to happen in Scottsdale this weekend, along with North Phoenix.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., this Saturday, January 28, two groups of Valley food trucks will gather in two Sam's Club parking lots: 15th Avenue and Bell Road in North Phoenix and the Loop 101 and Raintree Drive in Scottsdale. Operating less like a festival (THANK YOU) and more like Downtown's Food Truck Friday, there is no admission and no vouchers -- just walk up to your favorite truck and pay for what you order.

Read on for a list of the trucks at each location.

Due to an apparent combination of economic and technological factors combined with "street food" being "hip" or "chic" there has been a rise in food trucks in the United States in recent years.

Fuck food trucks. After that goddamn nightmare of a festival I never want to hear about the goddamn things again.

New Times is contributing to the reputation of food trucks what Ralph Nader did to the reputation of the Chevy Corvair.

The best food truck in the USA is Giovannis shrimp wagon in Haliewa Oahu Hawaii on the north shore of Oahu where I live. its across the street from the McDonalds in Haliewa town down in the woods under the shade trees there. plenty of picnic tables there to sit at and eat. and only 2 minits walk from the beach. and the best looking  and most friendly women on earth eat there everyday as hawaii has the most beautiful and friendly women in the usa. go there and see fior yourself. im not kidding you. you wont be dissapointed my Bruddas. Be nice to have a tiny bit of info on what each truck offers...

Well, if it's anything like the festivals these trucks have been showing up at, the answer to what they offer would be "nothing".
